Premier League Match Day 9-Top Six Previews

Chelsea v Man Utd

This is undoubtedly the match of the weekend. If you follow the media United manager Jose Mourinho's head is on the block, lose this match and he loses his job. The omens don't look good, United have been very poor this season and so far Chelsea have been very good. United have been to Stamford Bridge under Mourinho three times and lost 1-0, 2-0 and 3-0.
United have been poor all over the park, defensively vulnerable and strangely ineffective up front. The players have not performed and should definitely be considered culpable for the performances but some faults can definitely be laid at Mourinho's door, he doesn't seem to know his best team and definitely hasn't got a style or set pattern of play.
Chelsea epitomize the exact opposite of this, they have quickly bought in to Sarri's ideology so the playing style is clear to see and the players are overerperforming. The only criticism would be that for all their possession and getting more players in the box they are over reliant on Eden Hazard as seven goals and three assists out of their eighteen goals would testify. In fact when Hazard doesn't turn up as he didn't against West Ham they look quite ordinary and were lucky to get a draw. Hazard needs help from his team mates if Chelsea are to challenge for the title, he can't carry them.
Mourinho is excellent at setting up a team for one off matches, so he can probably nullify Hazard's threat, Pogba generally shows up in the big games so it is not.unfeasible.that United.could pinch a result. Having said that I fully expect Cheksea to win 1-0 and Hazard to get the goal.
Score prediction:1-0

Man City v Burnley

I have looked at this match inside out. I have considered all the ways Burnley could halt the Guardiola juggernaut or even steal a victory. Burnley could play three at the back, they could be defensively sound, they could be ultra physical. They could play very direct football, try to stifle the game  and take all the joy out of the match. In fact they will try some of these tactics, maybe even try all of them but it won't matter I can only envisage a comfortable romp for City.
Score prediction:4-0

West Ham v Spurs

This is a big match in East London. West Ham started the season poorly but have, in recent weeks picked up both their form and their results and will strongly fancy their chances.
Spurs, in contrast have been hard to call, they have literally been good, bad and ugly. It is hard to know what Spurs will turn up, but there were signs before the International break that Spurs were returning to their consistent, pragmatic best. I think this will be a great game to watch and I think Spurs will have just enough to edge it.
Score prediction:1-2

Huddersfield v Liverpool

On paper this should be an easy win for Liverpool but it is one thing to play well in a tough run of matches, it is easy to relax when you're faced with a so called easier set of matches. Early in the week it looked like Liverpool had a host of injury problems to contend with but these have gradually drifted away and only Naby Keita definitely misses. I think Salah is finally going to hit some form and go on a goal scoring run.
Score prediction:0-2

Arsenal v Leicester

Arsenal have been on a great run, they haven't necessarily played well but they have got the job done. Winning breeds confidence and gradually the performances have improved too. They look spectacular up top and always likely to score a few, in defence they have looked more and more secure as the season has gone on.
Arsenal have a good record at home to Leicester and although this is a decent Leicester side I can only see an Arsenal win.
Score prediction:2-1
