Should Dele Alli be dropped against Liverpool this weekend?

Without any doubt, Dele Alli is amongst the most promising young players in world football. If the Spurs sensation isn't a world-class attacking midfielder already, it seems only a matter of time before he naturally ascends to that status.

However, the 22-time England international just hasn't quite been himself this season. Alli has not scored in the Premier League since the end of August and he's appeared somewhat distracted, coasting against lesser side and drawing negative press for a dive against Burnley and that finger showed towards Kyle Walker.

At the same time, Mauricio Pochettino's side most impressive results this season have come in the Champions League, amid the Englishman absence after being suspended in Europe last season.

Perhaps it's just a coincidence, but not having Alli in the team has allowed the north London side to consider a more defensive, counter-attacking approach that’s proved highly effective.

The Spurs face their biggest test since Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend with Liverpool their next at the Wembley. Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Alli who transfermarkt value at £40.5million will be included in the Lilywhites starting XI this weekend.
