Lionel Messi to be offered a lifetime contract by Barcelona - reports

Lionel Messi has yet to agree a new contract deal with Barcelona but according to ESPN, the club believe that it's merely a matter of time before the 4-time Ballon d'Or winner does so.

The Argentina international's current deal runs out until next summer and the club are increasingly concerned about the fact that Messi has yet to sign a renewal.

Messi, 30, agreed to a deal in principle with Barca in Jnue, but has yet to sign on the dotted line officially. Barcelona CEO Oscar Grau has insisted that everything is under control and that it is just a matter of time before the deal is finalised.

“The idea is for Leo, who has been here since he was little, to stay here for life because he is an icon.

After his playing days we want him to continue to be linked to the club,” he stated on Saturday.
However, details of the contract have not yet been released.

Messi joined the Catalan giants at the tender age of just 13, before making his first team debut just four year later. The 30-year-old is also the club's highest ever goalscorer with 522 goals to his name and has won 30 trophies with the club.
