$26.5million Could Seal Deal: Man Utd in pole position to secure Mesut Ozil's signing

Manchester United signed top quality players in the summer transfer window to strengthen their squad but the Red Devils boss did not sign any attacking midfielder.

If reports making rounds are anything to go by then the Man United are interested in securing the services of German international and Arsenal star Mesut Ozil to further boost their attacking options.

According to an exclusive report covered by Calcio Mercato, Inter Milan are looking to sign the Germany World Cup winner but Manchester United are the ones leading the race to secure his signature in the January transfer window.

Ozil is yet to score a goal or provide an assist this season for the Gunners. The playmaker current deal with Arsenal will expire next summer and the club are looking to cash in on him when they still so as to avoid him leaving for free in the coming summer.

Therefore, the Italian news outlet have mentioned that Arsene Wenger's side are open to selling the former Madrid playmaker for a fee of 23 million euros ($26.5million) if he does not agree a new deal.

Mourinho is well aware of Ozil's qualities. The 29-year-old was an integral part of Jose' team that won the La Liga title in 2012. In hindsight, the above mentioned price is a mouth-watering deal for someone who is a proven quality star.
