5-1 Loss: Ozil and Sanchez To Leave Arsenal at the End of the Season

Arsenal season was left in shambles after suffering a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the champions league on Wednesday night, making their progress in the competition apparently over. The Gunners have crashed out of the Europe elite competition at the round of 16 in the last six seasons and are on the brink of another exit at the same stage.

In the Premier League, the London club are not finding it rosy either and they are faced with the serious task of remaining in the top four - having dropped from second to fourth- with Liverpool and Man United closely behind them. These two scenarios will definitely make Arsenal lose their star players, especially Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The pair has been stalling on putting pen to paper as regards new contracts with their current deals set to expire at the end of the season. Ozil was heavily criticised for his role in the 5-1 loss to Bayern, particularly Arjen Robben's goal and his agent has leapt to his defence, claiming the German midfielder is being made a scapegoat for the club poor run of form. In another development, Chilean fans are planning a protest at the country's capital, Santiago as they want their star man Alexis Sanchez out of Arsenal in the summer.

The former Barcelona forward has carried the team on his shoulder for most of the season and has helped them with 20 goals and 13 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. He had, in the past, questioned the team's winning mentality and ability to compete for trophies and the latest scenario may have finally pushed him out of the club.
