Manager: midfielder loves to play for Arsenal

Pedro Martinez Losa, an experienced Spanish coach who was appointed as Arsenal Ladies manager in August 2014, has praised Jordan Nobbs after her brilliant performance display against Notts County on Sunday.

The England international midfielder has contributed with a goal and a brilliant assist during Arsenal Ladies’ 2 – 0 win, as she made her mark on her return from an injury lay-off.

During the fixture between the north London club and Notts County, an inch-perfect long ball from Danielle van de Donk set here free to break the deadlock after just 10 minutes.

Losa told Arsenal.com that, “We’re very happy to have her scoring goals and impacting the game,”

“She loves to play for Arsenal, loves training every day with us and she brings that energy to the team.

“There’s no question about her level. She’s young and she has a lot of potential. We can’t say enough for her. She was key in the Continental Cup final last year and she performed very well in the FA Cup final too.”

Sunday’s win lifted the north London club to third place in the Women’s Super League table and closed the gap on Chelsea to five points ahead of next weekend’s clash with the Stamford Bridge outfits.

The north London club and Chelsea last met in May when Danielle Carter’s goal secured a record 14th FA Cup triumph for Arsenal at Wembley but, despite recent successes, Losa’s eyes remain on the Gunners’ final seven league games of the season.

“The table is a consequence of what you can do every day,” he said. “What we can do now is put in performances on the pitch like this one and play good football for our fans - that’s one of our massive objectives.
“Day by day we will grow as a team. We have a project for the future and we will be at the top of the league sooner rather than later.”
