Janssen to arrives in London to complete transfer from AZ Alkmaar

Dutch international striker Vincent Janseen was reportedly finalising his £17million transfer move to Tottenham today after he traveled to London for a medical.

He had confirmed last week that a move to the Premier League is “really close.” He was reported to have travelled to London yesterday, where he was joined by agents Patrick van Diemen and Louis Laros. He is expected to be in the capital until Tuesday to put the final changes to the deal.

Standard Sport claimed that AZ Alkmaar, who had snubbed negotiations earlier this month, is now looking forward to a deal for the 22-year-old to be announced this week.

He was the top scorer in last season’s Eredivisie with 27 goals and is expected to provide backup to Harry Kane.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino spent much of last season with the England international as his only out-and-out striker and was forced to rely on attacking midfielders such as Heung-min Son for striking cover.

However, the Holland international believes he can do more than just cover for Tottenham’s top scorer, saying last week: “Harry Kane? People can say what they want but I'm not afraid of anybody.”

“He is a great striker but we will see how it goes. We can complement each other, I think I can learn a lot from him.”

Should Janssen complete his move with the Spurs this week, he would be expected to join his new club for pre-season friendlies in Melbourne, where Tottenham will play Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
