Arsenal Transfer News: latest on Icardi and Arda Turan rumours

Arsenal's possible chances of signing Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi have been dealt with a blow after a move for the Argentine has been dubbed unlikely. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Arda Turan could be available for a move to the north London club following reports that the Spaniards have transfer-listed their winger.

According to London Evening Standard, the Gunners are instead prioritizing their interest in Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata or Lyon frontman Alexandre Lacazette.

The Gunners have been linked with a extensive list of forwards since they failed to sign any senior outfield players last summer, and Milan’s forward has long been subject to rumours of an exit from the San Siro stadium.

Speaking to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Icardi's wife, Wanda Nara, hinted the 23-year-old could depart the Serie A giants this summer, as per Bhardwaj's report:

“From what I can see, Inter have put Icardi up for sale. There are many clubs interested. We will evaluate the situation with all due respect for everyone."

“Mauro would be very sad to leave Inter, but we've understood the club's economic situation and evidently they cannot hold Icardi back.”

“There is no release clause in his contract and we hope Inter won't ask for a sum that is outside the market value, but rather suited to his contract.”

Icardi still has three years remaining on his current deal with Inter, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is facing the prospect of being without injured striker Danny Welbeck for the start of next season.

The managing director of WhoScored.com, Cristiano Acconci recently highlighted the good and the ugly side of Icardi, who has bagged 57 goals in 122 Serie A appearance for Inter and his former club, Sampdoria.

There are also reports elsewhere, which have linked us with a move for Barcelona misfit Arda Turan, who according to reports is ranking on the club’s departure list just six months after making his appearance for the Spanish giants.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca via the Daily Sun, there are reports claiming the Catalans are even willing to accept £12 million hit from the highest bidder and sell their playmaker for just £23 million this summer.

The Turkish international midfielder moved to Nou Camp from Atletico Madrid for a fee reported to be £35 million last summer, but the 29-year-old wasn’t allowed to register as a player for Barca until January of this year as a result of Barcelona’s transfer ban.

However, Borussia Dortmund are also mentioned as interested in signing the Turkish as a replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who moved to Manchester United earlier last week.

The Emirates outfit already have a good midfield selection as among their ranks are Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez, with Turan possibly following the same path as the latter and heading to the Emirates Stadium.

The £30 million arrival of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach has already beefed up the Gunners' engine room, but Turan's acquisition could go a long way to injecting some more flair into Wenger's lineup, which will definitely be the one of the strongest in the English Premier League.
