Out-of-luck Vissel show some pluck

Vissel Kobe's unbeaten start to the J1 season was ended at Nagoya Grampus, despite the visitors getting off to a flier with Pedro Junior's dinked finish from close range.

Ryota Isomura equalised and Kobe's run looked in jeopardy once defender Takuya Iwanami made the cardinal mistake of going to ground in the penalty area, attempting to get the ball from Josh Kennedy. You can only do that if you're guaranteed to get it. Otherwise, you concede a penalty, or a PK in Japanese soccer-speak. However, at 19, he's got plenty of time to learn and a bright future ahead of him, with already over 40 first-team appearances to his name.

Luckily for the visitors, Kaito Yamamoto pulled off a remarkable save to deny Kennedy from the spot. Despite that boost, Kobe's delight was relatively short-lived as substitute Riki Matsuda wrapped up all 3 points for the hosts with a late strike.
