Neill says Omiya deserved a draw

Momentum is a wonderful thing . . . when you're winning. Omiya Ardija are in something of a tailspin right now, as they continue to spiral downwards after Saturday's 3-2 defeat at home to Kashiwa Reysol. The signing of Lucas Neill was a good move to reverse that but, although he hit the crossbar with a header, there's only so much you can do if you only get 14 minutes of normal playing time. Nevertheless, Neill was grateful to make his J.League debut. The 35-year-old said: “It was a nice surprise. Difficult when the team has lost six games in a row. You can see the confidence is low, but apart from some mistakes we played well and deserved a draw. “Personally it was nice for me to play my first game for Omiya, but I probably should have scored. Very exciting — it was attacking football, good pace, and we played a very good team.”
