J.League table-toppers crash

J1 league-leaders Omiya Ardija slipped up this weekend, as did their J2 counterparts, Vissel Kobe. Coincidentally, both clubs went down 2-1 yet retained their number one status (or should I say 'ichiban' position) in their respective divisions.

Omiya were up against the mathematical precision of an Archimedes-inspired (well, Shingo Akamine is pronounced like 'Archimedes' by certain commentators!) Vegalta Sendai, who took an early lead when the keeper failed to narrow the angle against the aforementioned Greek mathematician. Akamine's finish was as precise as you would expect!

Wilson 'added' a second and it was a case of 'too little to late' as Omiya tried to mount a comeback with the visitors only managing to halve the deficit through Zlatan Ljubijankic.

Meanwhile down in J2, Vissel succumbed to a late goal from Naohiro Takahara, who doubled his goal tally with the 90th-minute winner for the hosts, Tokyo Verdy.
