Manchester City assistant confirms interest in Cavani

Angel Gregucci admits Manchester City are keen on Edinson Cavani.

Although Roberto Mancini has an embarrassment of riches up front, his patience continues to be tested by Mario Balotelli’s antics, whilst the futures of Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez are never far from the speculation pages. And even Sergio Aguero, who has never hinted at being anything other than happy in Manchester, is currently experiencing a difficult time following the break-up of his marriage late last year.

When you consider all this and the fact that the Blues can afford just about any player on the planet, it is no surprise to see them linked with various talents from across the globe.

Cavani, a Uruguayan international, is regarded as one of the best strikers in the game, due to his exploits in Italy with Napoli. City are one of several clubs who have been linked with the 25-year-old in recent times, and their assistant coach admits the £35million-rated player would be welcomed at the Etihad Stadium

"I don't know if the club will lay siege to Napoli for Cavani, but every club with a player of the highest level will be courted by bigger clubs," said Gregucci. "Roberto Mancini decides the transfer targets with the new directors. If Cavani should want a new adventure, I expect they'd let him go."
