Forget the Premier League, Falcao is happy at Atletico insists Cerezo

Enrique Cerezo insists Radamel Falcao is happy at Atletico Madrid.

The Colombian international is regarded as one of the best strikers in world football right now, and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. Chelsea, in particular, would appear to be huge admirers, especially after he struck a hat-trick against them in the UEFA Super Cup in August.

Manchester City, who already boat the likes of Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez in their ranks, and also said to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old, and as they have proven in recent years, they would happily smash the bank if they thought the player could help them progress to the next level.

Falcao remains under contract at the Vicente Calderon until the summer of 2016, but he has a release clause of a reported £48.5million. However, even if this fee was met either in January or at the end of the season, Atletico president Cerezo believes the forward could opt to stay in the Spanish capital.

"If someone comes with the money and meets the clause, the player does not have to leave," he told Telemadrid. "I don't think this is a matter for discussion, it is an issue that is there. But Falcao is a very serious person.

“He is a man who knows what contract he has, what situation he is in. He is in a team that wants him, he is delighted and above all he scores goals. He is very pleased and happy here, and until proven otherwise he will remain at Atletico.”
