David Moyes believes Wayne Rooney could make Everton return

Wayne Rooney could return to Everton, claims David Moyes.

Speaking ten years after the England international made the headlines for a stunning goal against Arsenal as a 16-year-old (video below), the Scot revealed his opinion that the striker could still don the blue shirt of his beloved Toffees.

“I would certainly welcome Wayne back. It's more likely to be later in his career but I think it is something even he would welcome,” Moyes said ahead of the trip to Queens Park Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

Everton sold Rooney to Manchester United in a £25.6million deal back in 2004, and the 26-year-old has gone on to win four Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League and two League Cups. A key man for his country, he also has 78 caps and with 32 goals to his name and age on his side, he is widely tipped to overtake Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 49 strikes.
