Vertonghen delighted with his decision to join Tottenham Hotspur

Jan Vertonghen is thrilled with his decision to join Tottenham Hotspur.

The Belgian international was linked with a host of clubs during the summer, including Arsenal and Italian giants Milan. Vertonghen was in the final 12 months of his contract at Ajax, so was always likely to leave the Dutch club ahead of the new season.

Eventually he joined Spurs in a deal worth around £9.5million, and he has made an encouraging start to his career in England. And the 25-year-old has revealed he is delighted with his decision to link up with the Premier League side from White Hart Lane.

"I love it [in the Premier League], it's a great ambience - it's just a shame that we have to struggle in every game until the last minute," Vertonghen told London 24. "I think at the end of the year I will need a good vacation!

“But I love it here, the atmosphere is amazing. These are the best players in the world and we have an amazing team so I'm very happy I made this decision."
