Sessegnon insists Sunderland departure was never on his agenda

Stephane Sessegnon is happy at Sunderland.

The 28-year-old has made a big impact at the Stadium of Light, following his £6million arrival from Paris St Germain in January 2011. Last season he was particularly impressive, which led to speculation he was on the wanted lists of Premier League rivals Arsenal and Sunderland, as well as his former club in the French capital.
However, Sessegnon ignored the speculation and instead signed a new contract with the Black Cats, which is designed to run until the summer of 2015. And the Benin international insists there was never a moment when he considered quitting Wearside.

"I have always been happy here," he told the Sunderland Echo. "There's been a lot written and said in the media over the summer about possible interest, but I have just continued to train and play the matches, and I think it's been clear that I have wanted to stay here. I was happy to sign a new contract and I will give 200 per cent to the team.”
