No bids from Arsenal or Liverpool, but Benayoun a Happy Hammer

Yossi Benayoun has rejoined West Ham United.

The Israel international first came to prominence in England when he joined the Hammers in 2005, and he spent two years at the club before leaving for Liverpool. At the time this move upset many amongst the Upton Park club, who were angry at him for turning his back on a new contract.

Benayoun spent three years at Anfield before moving to Chelsea in 2010, but he only made eight appearances for the Blues and spent last season on loan at Arsenal. With his first team chances sure to be limited at Stamford Bridge, the 32-year-old was keen to leave this summer.

A return to Liverpool or the Gunners had been mooted in the press, but the midfielder insists he never received an offer from either club. He did, though, get the chance to return to West Ham on a season-long loan deal, and he jumped at the chance.

"After a long and busy day I can say I had 3 offers from PL clubs..but not from Liverpool or Arsenal like some reports," he said on his Twitter account. "But I'm very happy to confirm that I will join on loan to West Ham! I can't wait to start..great club."
