Midfield starlet admits time could be right to leave Arsenal

Francis Coquelin admits he could leave Arsenal.

The midfielder is regarded as one of the best talents at the Emirates Stadium, and he was handed a new long-term contract just earlier this year. However, he remains on the fringes of the first team, and has not featured in any of the three opening games of the current season.

Coquelin, who spent the 2010-11 season on loan at Lorient, has received assurances from Arsene Wenger that he has a bright future at the club. However, with the likes of Abou Diaby and Santi Cazorla blocking his progress, the 21-year-old is hardly convinced.

“In July, I met the coach and he told me I am a full member of the team and he relies on me,” he told L’Equipe. “I am 21-years-old, I know I cannot be patient any more. This year is the right season to make a name for myself at Arsenal.

"I have given myself six months and then I will take stock. If I see it is blocked, I will go somewhere else. But for now I know I have the qualities to make a name for myself at Arsenal."
