Karacan ends speculation over future by signing new contract at Reading

Jem Karacan has signed a new contract at Reading.

The 23-year-old progressed through the youth academy at the Madejski Stadium club, and has gone on to make 125 appearances for the first team. However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, there had been question marks over his future.

Karacan, though, insists he had no intention of quitting the Royals, and he has ended any doubts over his commitment to the cause by penning a new deal. The Catford-born midfielder, who has represented Turkey at four age levels including Under-21, is now tied to the Premier League side until the summer of 2015.

"I'm delighted to finally get it done, we've been in negotiations for a little while so it's nice to put pen to paper," Karacan told Reading's official website. "Ever since I arrived, I've always wanted to become a first-team regular and in the last couple of years I've managed to do that - to come through the ranks has been brilliant."
