Norwich City swoop for defender

Following their nightmare start to the season, Norwich City have bolstered their back four.

Chris Hughton’s side endured a horrific opening weekend of the Premier League campaign, when they were thrashed 5-0 at Fulham. The Canaries boss has wasted little time in calling for reinforcements, and has added Sebastien Bassong to his squad.

The Cameroon international has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur, and had no future under Andre Villas-Boas. The 26-year-old joins Norwich for an undisclosed fee, after he agreed a three-year deal at Carrow Road.

“I'm delighted to have brought in someone with the Premier League experience he has got," Hughton told the club's official website. "He will give us power and pace at the back and again add to the competition in the squad."

Norwich will be hoping Bassong avoids a third relegation of his career: he experienced the drop with Newcastle United in his debut season in England, and again last term when on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
