Norwich City sanction Ayala loan

Norwich City have allowed Nottingham Forest to take Daniel Ayala on loan.

The 21-year-old was restricted to just 10 appearances for the Canaries last season, due to a knee injury. Chris Hughton is keen to see the Spaniard gain more action this term, but is evidently unsure if he can offer him such a platform at Carrow Road.

Ayala has, therefore, been allowed to drop into the Championship with Forest, where he will spend the duration of the coming campaign. The former Liverpool defender becomes their sixth signing since the end of last season, as the Reds set their sights on promotion.

Forest chairman Omar Al Hasawi told the club's official website: "It is pleasing to have signed a player with such a wonderful pedigree. He's only 21 but has experienced life in the Premier League as well as in the Championship, and adds to the defensive resources at Sean O'Driscoll's disposal."

Ayala joins Daniel Harding (Southampton), Greg Halford (Portsmouth), Danny Collins (Stoke City), Adlene Guedioura (Wolverhampton Wanderers) and Simon Gillett (Doncaster Rovers) as the new recruits at the City Ground during the summer window.
