Manchester City yet to bid for Cavani, Jovetic or Godin

Manchester City are yet to make bids for Edinson Cavani, Stevan Jovetic or Diego Godin, despite widespread reports to the contrary.

With Sergio Aguero set to miss four weeks of the season with a knee injury, and clubs said to be showing an interest in Edin Dzeko, Roberto Mancini is considering his attacking options. This has taken on extra importance since last week, when neighbours and title rivals United lured Robin van Persie from Arsenal.

Uruguayan international Cavani would be a dream signing for the Blues, who are fully aware of his talent after they came across him in last season’s UEFA Champions League. The 25-year-old is rated in the region of £35million by Napoli, who have denied suggestions Mancini has already tabled an offer.

Likewise, Fiorentina have rebuffed claims that City have been in touch regarding Jovetic. The 22-year-old, who has also interested Chelsea this summer, is believed to be available for £23.7million, but it remains to be seen if the Premier League champions will meet this price before the 31 August deadline.

Meanwhile, Mancini is still keen to bolster his back four options. Two bids have been rejected for Liverpool’s Daniel Agger, and now the Italian is said to be keen on Uruguay’s Godin. However, just as with Cavani and Jovetic, he is yet to approach Atletico Madrid to ask for their £8million-rated centre-half.
