Liverpool yet to make Dempsey bid, as Fulham continue without their US star

Liverpool have not yet bid for Clint Dempsey, insists Martin Jol.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the US international for much of the summer, following his impressive return of 21 goals in all competitions last season. Dempsey is also keen to secure a move away from Fulham, and is in the final year of his contract.

Jol left the 29-year-old out of his plans ahead of the 5-0 opening day win over Norwich City on Saturday, and has also revealed that the midfielder will play no part this weekend, when the Londoners travel to Manchester to face United at Old Trafford.

Yet the Dutch coach insists that there still has been no official approach for Dempsey, from Liverpool or elsewhere. If this remains the case for the next eight days then the American could find himself in limbo until the window swings open again in January.

It is believed the Craven Cottage side want as much as £10million for their star player. But due to his age and contractual situation, such a price is unlikely to be met. Instead, any potential suitor would probably look to take him for half the fee.
